Monday 28 July & Thursday 14 August 2008
Also offered as part of our summer holidays at the Cliftonville Hotel in Cromer. See page 11 of our 2008 brochure or click on the website listings for 18 May and 20 May
Go through the cast dressing rooms to see the huge wardrobe of exquisite costumes and flamboyant headdresses worn in the Christmas Spectacular show by over one hundred performers. Learn how they look after and store these items, along with the decorations that transform the museum into a Christmas wonderland.
View the treasures of the past in our nostalgic tribute to Thursford’s founder, George T Cushing MBE, where his remaining collection of steam engines, on view for the first time, can be seen in the poignant re-creation of his engine yard as it would have been during the late 1940’s. You will also be able to preview the magical Christmas Fantasy Land.
The cost of your visit also includes the opportunity to ride both carousels and a half hour concert with Robert Wolfe, the Resident Organist, playing the Mighty Wurlitzer. Also, tea/coffee & biscuits upon arrival and tea & cakes before you depart. Cafeteria facilities will be available to buy some lunch.
(£10 deposit)
Best price seats at the Barbican Theatre. Usually the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by John Georgiadis who started these concerts more than thirty years ago. Afterwards, join the midnight service at St Paul’s Cathedral or see the fireworks on the Thames. A separate leaflet is available which explains the itinerary in detail.
Extra local pickups are available from Billericay, Shenfield, Brentwood, Upminster and Hornchurch as we always have multiple coaches for this event. See the Q & A page for our usual places.
