Day 1: We start our holiday later than usual as we are only going as far as Ely for a leisurely lunch stop. It’s a little more than a one-hour drive from there to our hotel.
Day 2: After breakfast on Saturday it’s another short drive to Spalding to enjoy the entire day at the fabulous Spalding Flower Festival where this year’s theme will be Screen Heroes. The coach will drop you at the Springfields Arena so you are at the heart of activities before the main parade starts at 2.00pm. You will then be able to visit the floats individually and close up, so you won’t need to rely solely upon standing around in the street. Our Tour Escort will offer to take you into the arena as a group, so it would then only cost you a reduced price of £4 each on the day.
Day 3: After breakfast on Sunday, it will be just over an hour’s drive, via Wisbech and Kings Lynn, to Sandringham House, the much loved country retreat of Her Majesty the Queen. Having arrived just after opening time, we will be well ahead of most Bank Holiday visitors. Upon your return to Peterborough you’ll have time for a wander before your evening meal.
Day 4: After breakfast on Monday, we will make a short circular journey to visit three parish churches in the district of South Holland whose own flower festivals coincide with the big one in Spalding. We will then have plenty of time to have an enjoyable lunch in Peterborough before our homeward journey. Alternatively, you could spend the whole morning in Peterborough if you so wished.
