Your Holiday Itinerary

Our outward journey will include one of our very popular farmhouse breakfast stops in a pretty little Northamptonshire village, but later than usual. We will then make an afternoon visit to Chesterfield before arriving at the hotel with plenty of time to unpack and get ready to enjoy our first dinner together.

On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday three excursions will be available without extra cost other than reduced price admission charges where applicable. These charges are not included in the tour price because some guests may prefer to do other things instead; after all, this is one of the finest walking areas in the entire country e.g. Black Rocks.

Our return journey will include the use of the refectory at Southwell Minster for coffee, and the glorious riverside town of Stamford in Lincolnshire for lunch. Return home early evening

Well dressings originate from Pagan times when thanks was given for the purity and plentifulness of the local water.

Nowadays we buy it in bottles, though when we visit Buxton you will be able to fill up your empty bottle from the natural spring near the park.

Well dressings are made by setting natural materials such as petals, leaves, corn and straw, in clay bases set in wooden frames.

Each dressing involves an average of 200 hours extensive experience. Because the materials deteriorate quickly, each well dressing is displayed for one week only. Tissington has up to six of them.
